Gender- and genre-bending

The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible

The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible - A.J. Jacobs I honestly thought it was just going to be a silly book about not trimming your beard, wearing all white, and playing a ten-string harp for a year. And in part, it was silly. But at the same time, it has some interesting bits of information and at times is actually thought-provoking. I perhaps would have liked a little bit less diary and a bit more self-reflection, but overall I found the writing to be quite funny and sincere.
