Gender- and genre-bending

Canada

Canada - Richard Ford Reading this is like what? Watching wheat grow in Saskatchewan? Excruciatingly slow. I don't mind some lack of action if it is balanced by lovely prose, but I can't say I enjoy Ford's style. He is fond of sentences that seem important and quote-worthy, and yet are so confusing you can't figure out what he meant to say.
