A pretty good read. I really liked the world and the concept of insect-kinden. Oddly enough, despite being a novel about war and invasion, it didn't seem particularly fast-paced to me. Also, it is obviously not a stand-alone book, and a lot of it sets the stage for the following volumes. There are a few problems with it. I don't think the author did a good job of setting certain events up and building up anticipation (don't want to mention specifics so as not to spoil). Also, another odd problem I had was with punctuation. It seemed at times that there were no commas where commas should have been.
